How Many People Can I Entertain?

thumb_istock_000002368942small No home is too big or too small to host a great party.  Being in someone’s home is special.  It puts a relationship on a different level, a place that can never be achieved by meeting in a restaurant.

But, be realistic about your home’s entertaining capacity. You can change either the number of guests or the type of party to match your home’s entertaining space.

1. A cocktail party accommodates the most people in the least space. 30 standing guests will comfortably fit in an imaginary square of 6-7 paces on each side.
• With finger food, you only need seating from one third to ½ of the guests
• If you’re serving a meal on a plate, everyone needs a place to sit down to eat. Serve food that can be easily navigated with a fork

2. The seated dinner is a little different and requires the most space per person. There are some space-saving tricks like renting smaller chairs, adding a table or moving other furniture out of the room.  But at the end of the shuffling, make sure everyone can comfortably sit down and eat.  Comfort is critical to sparking party magic.

Practice hospitality—It builds your relationships and adds fun to your life.

I hate entertaining at home . I think you get stressed out worrying if people are enjoying themselves etc.
I would prefer to go out to a club and let people mix with who ever they want
