Would you give up your life for your child? by Christie B

I’ve recently been made very aware of the number of sacrificial acts of mothers. I am not talking about sleepless nights, froth of cappuccinos or other such silly things. I am talking giving your life. These acts stand out so strongly in a society that is behind even when it comes to giving blood!

I was moved to tears by the example of a local GP who gave her life for her unborn child. Dr. Ellice Hammond lost her fight with cancer just three weeks after her little girl Mia Ellice was born. She was delivered at 31 weeks in order to give her mother Ellice an opportunity to undertake strident chemo to attack her ever invading cancer.

Did she know she wouldn't have made it even if she had risked the life of her baby? And therefore choose the only thing she could.  Or did she think that she could also survive? Regardless we will not know and she paid the ultimate price and laid her life down for another.

Would you give up your life or even an organ for your child or someone close to you?

Here are ways you can involved.

By the grace of God Almighty I would do whatsoever it took for my beloved children.

I am a single mother of three wonderful children me and my kids are one we are united for united we stand, no matter what I am willing to support my kids. They didn't ask to be here I brought them into this world but it is God who knew them before they were. So my love for them is even as my Father God's heart for them. (God bless you Ms.Christie.)

i will give up my life to help my child in a heart beat..only my child though..and i would do everything in my power to help a loved one..i realise is not as easy as it sounds...but having to live with the tought that i could have done something for my child and i didnt will kill me shortly after him/her..just my opinion..i can also understand why someone couldnt do it..and unless you are in that situation is only an opinion of one's self known values..

I would like to think I would be able to help my child in any situation no matter what the outcome to myself. I know there is a reliable network of family behind me at the moment so I would be reassured if I were not around.

Hmmmm....that's a really interesting question Christie.
I think that the easy answer is - yes of course I would give up my life for my children but the thought that is scary is, "would I really?"

As long as it's just a theoretical exercise it's an easy question to answer. What I admire are the people that have faced the choice and still answered in the same way. They are an inspiration for the rest of us that haven't faced such horrible circumstances.
