Just landed in Oz! 2007/06/04 22:30
Hi everyone - recently started coming to Bayside and thought I would have a look at Christie's website - what I've seen so far looks fantastic!

I'm a homemaker (like that phrase ) and have a gorgeous husband and 2 lovely kids aged 9 and 7. We emigrated to Melbourne from the UK in December and have been here 6 months already! Have got through the '4 month home-sick stage' and are feeling much more settled and enjoying ourselves, although this colder weather is too much like the UK - at least we can now guarantee a hot summer is on the way (unlike England, where you get about 1 week during the summer hols that's nice and then when the kids go back to school in September, it gets hot!)

Looking forward to getting to know you all - you seem a friendly-enough bunch!

Hi Tweet - great to have you on board. As you may know I'm from Ireland and can relate to the homesickness and the weather.
what do you pack for a UK summer I ask myself!!!
I look forward to talking to you again.

Thanks, Christie! How long have you been in Australia? Rob says he has been here since he was 12, but we can still detect his London twang!!

There seems to be a growing English contingent at Bayside (we're infiltrating - watch out!!) We have come out from Liverpool (though neither of us are from there) and are from the same church background as the Davey family. Our children go to Heatherton Christian College (fantastic school), so we also know all the teachers from there who go to Bayside. Its been a good starting point for us with friendships - need to get to know more Aussies, though!

Found out the other day that one of the teachers at our school was in the same housegroup as my best friend's sister when they were living in Birmingham, UK!! Isn't God's family amazing?

You seem a busy lady - I think I've seen you once since we've been coming (about 6 weeks now) and heard you on Mothers Day (which I really enjoyed, thanks!)

Gotta go - kids to shower, etc etc! Nice to chat.

It's great to have you onboard. I'm looking at taking the whole family to the UK next year for a bit of an adventure for about 8 weeks. You'll have to tell us a few of your favourite spots in the Travel topics area.
