Choices.....good and bad 2007/04/24 17:03
Thank goodness that I came from a good solid family....as my mother and father instilled in me a sense of "right" and "wrong". Even still, things may go wrong from making a right choice. For example, it may be right to have a really difficult conversation with a friend.....they may hate you for saying what you said for a while....but I'm a firm believer that if you do what is right in love then things will work out in the long run.

I have some friends that didn't have parents that provided brilliant role models but I'm never ceased to be amazed at how they have taught themselves to make right choices. They continuously inspire me on my life's journey.

No matter what your upbringing, you can still make choices today that will help you for tomorrow. Just make "right" ones.

I am constantly asking my two children about the decisions they are making...is this a good or a bad choice right now...I believe it gives them power over the choices they make...as they verbalise the wisdom it gets into their little personalities.

I couldn't agree with you more Christie.
We do the same thing with our own children. I believe that you need to always teach while kids are young rather than say, "I'll wait until they're older." It's often too late then.

Many of our friends are amazed that we can get our kids to go to bed at "bed time" and they don't get up again. The reason why is that we "won" that battle when they were babies. Now it's not an issue and there is a lot more peace in the household.

oh I couldn't agree more. I was so blessed when I had my babies cause I had an old fashioned midwife who agreed with trying to get babies into routine. they believed in the parents having a life. I can not believe how young girls are struggling with babies that are awake all the time and they are not getting teh help they need. everyone in the family ends up stressed and sleep deprieved and in the long run jobs and relationships suffer!!!
My grandmother had 7 children and she always said "sleep begets sleep" and she was asked for her wisdomn all around the Irish country side...she even ahd a secret recipe for cradle cap that worked every time and is completley natural...my friends have all used it and their children have lovely clean heads!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah send em to bed I say!! People are too lenient on their children and just let them rule the household. Too much 'democracy' in the home and not enough authority. If children learn that they don't have to respect authority in the home, what can we expect of them in society? It's setting the next generation up for some hard lessons!
