The rules of dating. 2007/06/14 09:24
A question for men. In all the confusion out there concerning the rules for
dating in the 2000's, what do you see as your role in it all? Are women
supposed to wait for the man to ask, or are the men waiting for the women to
ask? Who is supposed to pay for the outing ect., ect? There seems to be
a lot of really confused people out there in relation to this these days.
How do you men see it?

Hi Rubyleeangel
I'm a bit old fashioned and think the guy should ask. In my opinion if a guy can't take the lead and even ask you out for a date, then what about when things get serious. In my opinion I respect a guy more if they take that step. I think women can help along the way tho, we can give encouraging signs to let him know that we are interested. But I know a lot liberal women out there would say why does a guy have to take the lead. I think we strip men of their confidence if we charge ahead. Women most often like to take control (that's our weakness, in my opinion) and guys can be lazy (that's theirs!) Interested to hear if that sparks any reactions from males and females.

Personaly I am a bit old fashioned too.
I would like to be asked out.I see myself strong woman and I feel if a man is not bold enough to ask me out then we could not have a relationship.
Id be uncomfortable with him paying on the first date though.

Ive been a christian for a few years and I spend time with my gorgous, intelligent, hard working single female friends most of us have not had a date in years.Whats going on?

ok... old fashioned here too... lol I think it would be nice if the guy asked us girls out still... And I agree too that sharing the 'bill' is a good thing... I sure hope chivalry isn't dead!?!?

Well ladies, I gotta admit that I am a bit out of practice when it comes to this subject, but I do strongly believe men are called to be leaders in all areas of a relationship, including its beginnings! Many men have abdicated their responsibilities as leaders, resulting in women taking on roles they were never intended to fulfil. Sorry ladies, but I feel the womens lib movement (although necessary to help fill the void) has only exasperated the situation. As a result, many of us have become unsure of our role, and thus insecure in ourselves. Hard to be a true leader with that mindset

Of course, a true leader is one who serves, and leads by being a strong role model for his family. But how can a man lead when he has lost his own sense of direction? We all have a long road back to true values in relationships, and my hearts desire is to help men regain their identity and role in their relationships.

I don't profess to have all the answers......just the benefit of hindsight! I do know that when men enter a relationship with the attitude of "how can I make this ladys' life better? what do I have to offer her?" rather than the typical "what's in it for me", then we will be heading in the right direction

Looking forward to any thoughts on this.
Cheers,
Phil(aussiegold).
