Nationally for every 100 women there are 97 men. And in Victoria, the state I live in it's further less, with every 100 women for 96 men. I have had many a girlfriend (most in their 30s) lament there are hardly any men around and I used to think that they were looking in the wrong places, but apparently their lamentations are actually true. The reasons for this gap is attributed to high mortality rates in men and men are more likely to settle overseas and more women are migrating to Australia. Which says to me our culture is more attractive to women than men. And if that's the case what makes it so? I am curious if this is a phenonmena in other countries? Do you report less or more men or women?Don't despair, that's still 96 men! Not all of them are taken

Not all of the 100 women will want to get married. I guess the sensus didn't mention the age group did they? I've met a lot of single guys so they are out there!
