I have had my suspicions confirmed... there are more women than men. An Australian national census was launched yesterday reporting there are more women than men. Nationally for every 100 women there are 97 men. And in Victoria, the state I live in it's further less, with every 100 women for 96 men. I have had many a girlfriend (most in their 30s) lament there are hardly any men around and I used to think that they were looking in the wrong places, but apparently their lamentations are actually true. The reasons for this gap is attributed to high mortality rates in men and men are more likely to settle overseas and more women are migrating to Australia. Which says to me our culture is more attractive to women than men. And if that's the case what makes it so? I am curious if this is a phenonmena in other countries? Do you report less or more men or women?

Don't despair, that's still 96 men! Not all of them are taken Not all of the 100 women will want to get married. I guess the sensus didn't mention the age group did they? I've met a lot of single guys so they are out there!

its an interesting one I moved to Australia four and a half years ago and I assumed it was just in the places I hung out in that there were more women than men(churches,bookshops,shoping centres)

I think the Australian culture is appealing to both sexes(the weather and the laid back lifestyle) however as more women than men are in professions where it is easy to get a visa more of us come over here to work.(I am a nurse thats why Im able to stay)

Jewish Dating

As a father, an uncle & a 'just a guy' - I believe these are terrible influences on our youth and culture. I gave up watching TV (for the most part) a LONG time back, it's cr@p all the way.
I'd love to get these 'shows' off the airwaves (or digital lines) because they do not bring anything remotely positive or educational into the viewers life or mind... quite simply, they suck.
I would suggest a little 'home bound activism'. Turn the screen off when such rubbish is thrust upon it, tell others around you how the programme is for mentally inept (which if they aren't to begin with, they will be by the end of it) and so on. Explain 'WHY' it is rubbish and why it is a bad influence.. not much point yabbering without a good reason behind the chin-flapping.
